Principal's Corner

Handbook Letter

Dear Students and Parents,

On behalf of Hixson Middle School faculty and staff, it gives us great honor to welcome you to Hixson Middle School for the 2016-2017 school year.  We are excited and honored to serve as the administrative team of HMS.  We are proud of the history of accomplishments at Hixson Middle and look forward to a future of continued excellence.

We believe all students can learn and flourish in a safe and nurturing environment.  At Hixson Middle, we consider ourselves fortunate to educate students from many different cultures and backgrounds. It is our commitment to provide each student the skills necessary to successfully navigate his/her way in all school endeavors.

During your years as a student here, you will experience tremendous growth and encounter new experiences.  It is our intention that your experience at Hixson Middle will be both positive and rewarding; it is the desire of the Hixson Middle School staff to support and nurture you during this time of your adolescent development. As a student you will be challenged to grow and mature as HMS is committed to rigorous academic standards that will prepare you for high school.

The administration and staff encourage students and parents to become involved in the vast programs, activities, and opportunities at Hixson Middle School.  Research in education shows tremendous academic gains when parents and schools are united to support students during the middle school years; it is our pledge to diligently work to ensure that every child receives this two-fold support system for higher academic success.  Together we can encourage our students to put their best foot forward and strive to reach their full potential, academically and socially.

This agendamate serves as a resource to provide our families and students with essential information about our school.  Please review the contents with your student at the beginning of school and throughout the year.  If a question arises please contact the school office at 423-847-4810.  The agendamate also serves as a communication tool from the classroom to home.  Parents, we ask you to commit to review your student’s agendamate on a daily basis so you are informed of classroom and school activities.

We look forward to working with you this year and hope that together we can make this school year exciting and fulfilling.

Dr. LeAngela Rogers, Principal
