ROAR (Restoring Opportunity, Achievement and Resilience) is a after school program that offers academic support and enrichment opportunities for students. ROAR is ran by Community School Coordinator Ms. RaeKenya Walker in partnership with Northside Neighborhood House.  During ROAR, a snack is provided by the YMCA, ROAR staff helps with homework from 3-4p and from 4-5 pm students engage in interest clubs and YMCA mobile fit activities.


ROAR hours are 2:30-5:30p Monday -Thursday. Students must have a registration form completed before starting ROAR and students must be signed out by their parent/guardian by 5:30p. ROAR is held in the Library, also known as “ The Den”.

 Ms. Walker is a Northside Neighborhood House employee who serves as Hixson Middle School’s Community School Coordinator. In addition to ROAR, Ms. Walker collaborates with community partners to connect teachers, student and parents with additional information, supports and resources.
